The aplication of the basic learning theories (behaviourism, cognitive constructivism and humanistic approach) in educational settings. Forms of school learning (psychomotoric, verbal, problem-based) and alternative forms of learning. Retention and forgeting – theories and factors of retention and improving the retention in learning and the aplication of these knowledges in educational settings. Cognitive and meta-cognitive learning skills, psychology of literacy and the development of literacy. Self-regulated learning (SRL) (definition and theories of SRL, cognitive and motivational factors of SRL, approaches to the development of SRL, assessment). The relation between self-regulated learning and academic achievement. Learning strategies (elements, measurement, enhancement) in relation to academic achievement. Learning transfer (traditional and contemporary approach), programs for enhancing the learning transfer. Academic motivation - motivational theories and school learning; elements of academic motivation (components of expectation and of value, affective components) in relation to academic achievement; ways to motivate pupils; academic self-concept. Factors of learning – the classification of the learning factors (internal: psysiological and psychological, external: physical and social); the relation between these factors and academic achievement. Academic failure – classification and factors.
