The course covers a concrete study of central musical works by prominent composers of the 20th and 21st centuries with an emphasis on the analytical view and understanding in a wider historical context.

• Serialism (Pierre Boulez, Luigi Nono, Karlheinz Stockhausen);
• post-serialism and sound compositions (György Ligeti, Krzysztof Penderecki, Luciano Berio);
• aleatorics (Witold Lutosławski);
• indeterminacy (John Cage and New York school);
• spectral music Gerard Grisey, Tristan Murail);
• electro-acoustic music Pierre Schaeffer, Karlheinz Stockhausen);
• postmodernistic collisions (Alfred Schnittke);
• contemporary multimedia and interactive systems.
